(More customer reviews)This is a cool little set of speakers - the sound is phenomenal, equal to speakers several times the price. In fact they sound better than my $150 Altec Lansing inMotion speakers, and with considerably higher volume. They come in a nice little zippered case, good for travelling, but once you take them out of the case the convenience falls short. The design, a good concept, has the speakers each attach to the central amplifier unit via built-in clips that run the length of each speaker unit. The speakers can also, in theory, be attached to the side of a laptop screen, or similar. The problem is that the clips are not strong enough to hold the three pieces together, much less onto any other object. The gist of this is that when you take the unit out of the case you have three awkward, independent units that continally fall apart from one another, won't stand up and don't sound good laid down, mixed with a mass of too-short but still too-tangled cables.
That said, when a friend of mine perpetually "borrowed" my last set I bought another. I'm willing to put up with the shortcomings of the design in order to get the good sound quality, especially for the price, and the case, since I travel with them. I have since glued the speakers to the central amplifier unit with JB Weld and so treat it like a one-piece unit. It now spends most of its time hanging on the wall by my computer.
One hint - do not use the "loudness" button. Most loudness buttons emphasize some voice and lower frequencies to give the sound more punch. This loudness button on this unit seems to kick in a modest poor-quality reverb that degrades the sound, actually makes vocals harder to hear. Leave the loudness button alone and you'll love the sound!
