I did not need to remove the radio to install on my 2003 hybrid - I simply popped off the lower dash fascia piece which contains the cigarette lighter and two empty popout panels. I could then simply reach up to the back of the radio and install the blue end of the connector in the socket in the back of the radio. Probably took 5 mins fiddling, a lot quicker than popping the whole panel. I installed a 1/8 jack in the center popout panel, connected that to the RCA out, and connected the ground wire (v important) to the ground on the cigarette lighter plug. I then popped the lower dash fascia back on. There is ample room behind it for the electronics.
