(More customer reviews)I read both positive and negative reviews and decided to take a chance. We took it on a LONG car trip this summer and it worked flawlessly the whole trip for our COBY Portable DVD Player. I didn't have any issues with a fuse shorting out. I recommend that if you get this product, check your DVD player (or other electronic device you want to use) on the specific DC voltage it requires and then choose the appropriate setting on your car adapter. If you randomly choose a setting, it will blow a fuse. My DVD player had a voltage requirement listed directly above the power input, but it should also say on the fine print on the back of just about any product - look for "DC In" followed by 9V for example.

(More customer reviews)We needed an adapter for our portable DVD (kids broke the cord). None of the "universal" adapters fit our ports, so we began to look at this kind. Many are very low output and do not provide enough continuous output to run a device, only charge it. Very happy with this product. Great continuous output for our needs. Gets a little warm after 4 hours of use (but so does every other device, including the player). Have not tried using the USB port at the same time yet. Takes a little getting used to the bulk of it when plugging in, but green indicator light lets you know when you've got good contact.
Would recommend in a heartbeat!

It was a lifesaver in terms of helping me to run my laptop while on the road wherever I happened to stop during an extended road trip. This inverter is very simple to use: just plug it into your car's cigarette lighter and instantly, you have a working AC power-outlet. If there is any possible area for improvement, I would suggest that Bestek might provide an extension cord for the cigarette-lighter outlet because for some cars, that outlet is located in the ashtray, a location that too frequently does not have sufficient clearance to plug the inverter in.
