(More customer reviews)I did quite a bit of research before getting the Bose SoundDock II. I wanted a dock that would work with my iPod touch 2G, have superb sound quality, and preferably charge my iPod while docked. Well I have to say that I got all i wanted and then some with this unit.
I read some reviews online written by "audiophiles" and supposed "sound experts" bashing Bose for selling overpriced and underpowered equipment. These people just don't get it. I won't go on to bore you in detail about the ridiculous things that were said but I will mention that these people are comparing the SoundDock to a home stereo setup that entails having a receiver with two separate wired speakers. Is this a fair comparison? I beg to differ.
To summarize this product it's a compact unit you can have in virtually any room in the house minus a bathroom (for safety purposes) and its sound can be described as warm and beautiful with deep enough bass to make your sound come alive but not wake the neighbors. Clear, never distorted at any volume. You get what you pay for.

(More customer reviews)I've had plenty of ear buds in my life, from $10 Sony's, to $100 dollar, well, Sony's, and they all sounded better than these. I got them for free, and I'm still disappointed. I can't believe they cost almost $150 dollars! Their sound is EXTREMELY dull, they have a base setting, that doesn't produce base. It doesn't matter what kind of music I listened to, it ruined it all. I gave them to my dog as a new play toy. They have ruined my life (that's not true, but they are terrible).

Bose Wave Radio II - Graphite Gray Review

(More customer reviews)The Bose Wave Radio II is easy to use, has top-of-the-line speakers and has a high-quality build. I use mine as a TV stereo speaker. The auxiliary input works for that function and what I like is that it doesn't take up a lot of space next to the TV. Indeed, incredible sound for the size of the speakers. So why only four stars, not five? Because the Bose, for all the money it costs, is not a top radio performer. It has only average AM reception with its internal ferrite antenna and worse its FM relies on the power cord for what is truly a lame "antenna." So as a speaker, the Bose is great but as a radio it is well below par. For hooking up to your TV, the Bose is outstanding. But as a bedside radio? No way. You would be better off buying a 159-dollar Sangean WR-2, a 259-dollar Sangean HDR-1, a 159-dollar Eton Sound 100 (my favorite for its retro look) or a 159-dollar Tivoli Songbook for your bedside. But if you're integrating the Bose into your TV home entertainment system and you don't mind spending the money and you're not fastidious about your FM reception, then you will enjoy the Bose.

Polk Audio I-Sonic Entertainment System 2 Review

(More customer reviews)I got the I-Sonic 2 just about a month ago and I am still amazed at how good this thing sounds. I got a Bose and a Cambridge at the same time, niether come close and are going back. It was great to do a comparision in my own home.
I read a lot of reviews on the first I-Sonic; best I can tell Polk has fixed all of the issues. It doesn't get hot, the display is easy to read, and the controls are so simple I have yet to open the manual.
The iPod dock works with my iPhone and my video iPod and my iPod has never sounded better. Really, you will be blown away by how good this system sounds. I have the unit in my bedroom and it is a perfect place to store my iPod when I get home; keeps it charged all the time.
The HD Radio works well with the single wire antenna provided with the system. I have tagged a bunch of sounds and bought a few from iTunes; very very cool feature even if you just use it to remeber a song.
I am very satisfied with the system and would highly recommend it to any iPod owner, its a perfect match.

Bose® In-Ear Headphones with Carrying Case - Black Review

(More customer reviews)There is much outdated information about these headphones, so here's the straight poop, 2007 style. Notice that the cable is black and white - that's how you know you're looking at the redesigned version of Bose's In-Ear headphone. The silicon tips have been fixed, so they don't have the falling-off problem which many experienced with the old ones. This is the single biggest complaint people had about the old ones. In fact there are probably hundreds of negative reviews to be found online where the reviewers gave these cans an abysmal score for that flaw alone. They stay on tight now. Other improvements: a lanyard/clothing clip for the chord and an angled plug.
Other things you should know:
1. You don't stick them into your ear canals like with other in-ear buds. These sit just shy of the ear canal. So they block less noise, but create more of a sense of space or soundstage than I've experienced with true in-ear phones. I also get a sense that this might be a little more safe for your long-term hearing than true in-ear buds.
2. They sound very rich and lovely. Lots of low-end, though the low-end probably isn't as clean as on some more expensive cans. Nice highs and mids.
3. The most comfortable phones I've ever worn, although we're all shaped differently, so that may be meaningless to you. That said, part of the reason they are more comfortable to me is because they're not really IN my ears.
Altogether, I consider these headphones to be a really good value for this price range and a nice alternative to sticking something into your ears. I actually like their sound better than both Bose's on-ear and over-the-ear headsets.

(More customer reviews)After reading MANY reviews, both here on Amazon and on many other sites on the Internet, I have observed that most people either love Bose and everything they make or they seem to hate everything that is Bose. Well I can honestly say that I do not fit into either of these categories. I do own some Bose products and I enjoy them very much. However, Bose items are extremely expensive and I will not pay out that kind of hard earned cash for a product just because of the name. I have learned, when it comes to Bose I ALWAYS insist on listening to the device first before buying it. I have heard some excellent sound from some Bose speakers but some of their speakers are only mediocre. Their headphones are a mixed bag as well. I never purchase a Bose product unseen or unheard. My decision to purchase this second generation Bose SoundDock Portable Digital Music System was no exception.
I was on the fence about this purchase for several weeks. I had researched the first generation Bose SoundDock digital music system for iPod for quite some time. I found a couple of shortcomings that prevented me from buying that unit. First, it did not have a battery for portable use, so you always had to have it plugged in. Secondly it did not have an aux input, so it would only work with Apple iPod devices. What if I wanted to plug in my daughter's Sandisk MP3 player, or my son's Creative MP3 player? The second generation Bose SoundDock does not have these limitations. They have included a battery system, for hours of portable music without being tethered to A/C mains. They also include an aux input, so you can plug in any device's audio output with a stereo mini plug. They also added a slick swivel dock, which swings back into the speaker system when not in use. As far as the sound quality goes, both first and second generation systems seem to sound just as good; solid bottom end, crisp top end, and mild yet adequate midrange.
I was tempted to order this item from Amazon, as their prices, shipping, and customer service are always top notch. However, I was still a little unsure as to whether or not I would be completely satisfied with this product in my home. After all, it is $400.00! I decided to purchase it from a local electronics store, which offers a 30 day return policy, in case I decided that it was not worth the price after listening to it in my home. Well I am pleased to report that this Bose SoundDock sounds simply amazing. I don't know how they get such BIG sound from such a little device, but Bose has definately done a wonderful thing with this SoundDock. The sound is deep but not too boomy. The stereo soundfield is a little narrow but that is to be expected from any portable sound dock, as the speakers are so close together. Still, Bose is known for their ability to use angled speaker technology to offer a wide stereo sound. I guess they just didn't feel that this aspect was important enough for their SoundDock product. That is a shame. I must also note that the sound produced from this device seems different when listening from different angles. If I sit the device on a table and sit down right in front of it, the high end is crisp and bright but the lower end is a little on the weak side. However, if I back up a few feet the bottom end really jumps out, and yet you lose a little bit of the crispness of the highs. Overall the SoundDock sounds great and it really fills a small and medium sized room with full bodied sound. You can crank this puppy way up without any audible sounds of distortion. Very impressive indeed. I have listened to Pop, Rock, Country, Dance, House, and even classical music on the Bose SoundDock, and all sounded equally impressive. Bass notes are very tight, not boomy or sloppy like I have experienced on several other iPod music systems. My only complaint is that the midrange seemed a bit weak on a few tracks, but seemed just fine on others. This may have to do with the equalization of my iPod Touch, but I don't notice these differences when listening through headphones.
Overall I am very pleased with my Bose SoundDock Portable Music System. It produces rich, room filling sound, offers perfect portability (thanks to the inclussion of a Lithium Ion Battery Pack), and has an auxiliary input for all of my family's digital music devices. Sure, $400.00 is a lot of money to spend on a portable iPod music docking system, but now that I have experienced the solid build and beautiful sound quality of the Bose SoundDock, buying anything less would always leave me wanting the Bose SoundDock. Still, I cannot find it within myself to give the Bose SoundDock a perfect 5 star rating. The narrow stereo soundfield and premium cost keep my rating at 4 and 1/2 stars. I take music sound quality very seriously, and in my opinion this Bose system, while expensive, is still worth the money. I highly recommend this product for anyone that is extremely serious about excellent sound quality and isn't afraid to spend the money to obtain it.

Cambridge Soundworks Radio I765 Blk with A/V Entertainment Review

(More customer reviews)I compared various radio/CD/iPod dock products based on features, price and customer reviews and decided to try Cambridge Soundworks and compare to Bose Wave radio/CD. Originally, I looked at CD 745i, but they had special for i765 so decided to give it a try. I have put i765 next to new Bose Wave radio/CD and listened to various music, CDs and radio stations. Here is brief summary of winning device by category:
Features: CS i765 - has integrated iPod dock, can play DVDS, can adjust bass, treble, etc.
Sound: Bose Wave radio/CD - its sound is clearer, sounds closer to real performance, has less unwanted interference/resonance
CD: Bose - better sounds almost across the board - more natural and crisp sound across musical genres - jazz, pop, classical, perhaps for some hard rock fans, CS could sound better
Radio: Bose - better reception, out of the box and with antennas
iPod: CS i765 - iPod dock integrated and included.
In summary, both of these are solid performers, with Bose having better sound, but Cambridge Soundworks more features and almost half the price. I have not yet decided which one I will return.
I hope that CS improves the sound more and that Bose starts to offer integrated iPod dock at more competitive pricing - after all there are number of other players now in the market: Denon, Polk, Boston Acoustics, Onkyo, etc.
