We also used it at home to watch DVDs in place of a tv, so it gets alot of use, wear and tear. IT has been dropped, spilled on, crumbs all over and it still works. actually, I thought it died a month ago and I went back to just make sure before I ordered another one and it was working again! horray! Picture is good, easy access to controls on side, long (enough) battery life - I think about 2 hours. and I'm pretty sure it charges while you play the movie, so if it does die in the airport, you can plug it in and still have your little ones watching while you charge.

Sylvania SDVD8727 7 Inch Dual Screen Portable DVD Player, with USB/SD Card Reader Review

(More customer reviews)Overall, I'd say this product is a best-buy for the money. We didn't want to spend too much on a system since our kids are 2 and 4, and we knew that whatever we bought would take a lot of abuse and might not be long for this world. We found the Sylvania dual-dvd at a national department store for about half the price of every other dual-dvd system we researched.
The good: Above all else, it's extremely inexpensive compared to other units! The system has, as expected, taken a lot of abuse in just two months: our 2-year-old constantly kicks the screen, with and without shoes; has pulled it out and thrown it on the floor during fits of anger at least five times; and has used various cords as tightropes for walking or swinging. Despite all the misuse, both screens still work perfectly. Also, for very little additional money, we were able to purchase a 2-year extended warranty on the product (for all the above reasons, I consider this the best money we've ever spent!). I've seen a lot of comments about degraded picture and/or sound quality in slave units of dual-dvd players; we haven't found this to be the case at all with these screens. While I haven't pulled them out and placed them side-by-side, we haven't noticed any difference between the quality of the two screens.
The bad: There is absolutely NO battery in the unit, so if you have to turn your motor off for any reason (like getting gas), the movie will completely reboot when you restart your engine. This is my biggest complaint with the system, and frankly, it's an inconvenience, but one I'm willing to live with given the savings we realized over the other systems out there. The straps that are used to attach the screens to the headrests aren't especially pretty, but they work; if you're really concerned about cosmetics, this may not be the system for you. Also, dvds are very difficult to remove and insert while the screen is attached to the headrest; it isn't impossible, but you do have to be persistent.
Overall, I think the Sylvania system is a fantastic deal. The biggest plus is that both our boys were largely happy and content on a 10-hour car trip. In my opinion, you can't really put a price on that.

The second one worked just fine. My nephew said it was his favorite gift the he received, and it's likely the only one he is still using considering he is only 7 years old. Unlike "traditional" toys, he can get many years of use from it, no matter his age.

Califone First Stereo Headphone Lightweight for Young Children Blue Review

(More customer reviews)Just to clear things up, these are just child sized headphones that have been "hardened" to resist abuse. There are no control mechanisms and other features, just headphones.
Overview-
These are just medium-low quality membranes in a hard package sized for little ones.
They seem to have a good size range. The cups can be slid up or down on the support rail a couple of inches for the older kids or left up for the younger ones. I have a 2 and a 5 year old and they fit both fine.
The exterior construction is a decent plastic, light and tough, can withstand a good amount of abuse. The actual contact surfaces seem to be a vinyl like material that is easy to clean, seems to wear well.
The actual acoustic membrane is protected by a plastic grid so if the kid takes them off and starts poking around inside they can't damage them.
The cup is filled with some type of foam, this helps to isolate outside sounds, though its not anything like dedicated noise cancelling or ear muffs. It reduces exterior noise but does not substantially eliminate it.
The wire that connects to your sound device is key, first off its reinforced with extra thick shielding, the ends are reinforced as well. This helps prevent tangling and snagging and breaking. Also from the plug to the cups there is only 1 wire. The wire to the other cup is built into the headband. This reduces the amount of wire hanging around to get tangled or broken. Very nice.
The sound quality is OK. It has good reproduction of low tones, serviceable reproduction of mid tones but poor reproduction of high tones. For its target age group that's probably ok. You can hear voices fine, just don't expect to enjoy your opera too well. Its not for serious music listening, its for kids who really wouldn't know the difference.

Conclusion-
If you have kids and you want to get them their own headphones so they stop destroying yours these are just the ticket.
