(More customer reviews)I bought two of these items. One was defective. Not a good start, but the product is not bad considering it's the only option in this price range. There does seems to be some volume attenuation, but it is barely noticeable (i.e. the volume is a bit higher when the headphones are plugged directly into the source, versus through this splitter when it is on the maximum volume. Not sure the mute switch makes much sense. Why not have installed a mute switch for both sets of headphones? I can see more application for that than the current configuration.
