(More customer reviews)I bought the VRDMC10 to convert our family VHS collection to DVD. I have only used it for this purpose so my review is limited to this application. With that in mind I feel that the unit worked flawlessly. It was true "plug-and-play" simplicity and performed as advertised. I also own a Sony HDR-SR11 HD Camcorder, and plan to burn some AVCHD DVDs from the camera on our next vacation. One plus is that we do not own a Blu-ray player and this unit also serves as an AVCHD disk player. The controls and menu are easy to use, and the unit ran unattended for many consecutive hours without fail. I would recommend this to anyone with a library of old VHS media they would like to convert to DVD.

(More customer reviews)Nothing fancy about this DVD player, works as described. I needed a portable player that would fit in the same bag with my 10" portable LCD TV. I often work in remote areas where there are no signals of any kind, so this unit fits my entertainment needs. Some locations have cable or satellite, which is why I prefer TV setup over a portable DVD player w/ display. I have used this unit several times, so far no problems. Easy packing and connecting capabilities.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this as my Macbook did not have the capability to burn DVDs. This drive not only burns DVDs but dual layer discs to boot, and the Lightscribe is fantastic for making professional looking discs. The software that comes with the unit is not Mac compatible and I have not yet installed it on my Windows XP machine, so I can't speak to the quality of it. But the drive itself is great. I simply plugged it into my Mac and iMovie, iTunes, etc automatically recognized it and it's capabilities. For the Lightscribe to work you'll need an application, and LaCie offers a free one on their website. They even have a free Linux version too, unbelievable.
EDIT: The unit just died. 18 months is pretty pitiful if you ask me. Anyway, up until that moment I was satisfied but now it's a paper weight.
